GSMTA Festival rules
1. Teachers may enter as many students as they desire. Entry fee must accompany the application and shall be sent to the committee chairman. No entrance fee is refunded for any reason. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DEADLINE.
2. GSMTA Festivals are planned to provide performing opportunities and encourage students to achieve their maximum potential within the abilities of each individual. No teacher shall directly approach a judge in regard to ratings or any other matter. Comments shall be addressed only to the Chair. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in disqualification of that teacher to enter students in such festivals for a period of one year.
3. All entrants will be evaluated on poise, stage presence and memorization. Each student will receive a critique of his/her performance. Selections must be performed by memory and at proper tempo. Observe all second endings, using no repeats. Available repertoire includes a wide range of difficulty per level. Teachers should exercise caution in repertoire selection.
4. No simplified arrangements. No photocopied music. Measures should be numbered. Entrants other than piano may perform appropriate selections from the literature available in that particular category.
5. Students will not be allowed to play if they appear at the wrong hour. Teachers, please check your entries and their schedules.
6. Teachers shall obtain Adjudication/Entry Forms from the Chairman or Pendley’s Piano Gallery. The forms may be downloaded from the GSMTA web site (gsmta.org.). Fill out one form for each composition.
7. Teachers must be a member of GSMTA by August 1 prior to the current academic year. Teacher’s name will not appear in the yearbook if dues are not paid by August 1st.

Complaints and requests should not come from parent to chairperson. Teachers must keep chairperson contact information confidential. Parents and students also must not approach chairpersons or judges with complaints or requests on the day of the event.
